Hey there,

It’s me Leo. I am one of the farm pigs at Good Life Refuge. Wow, look at how handsome I am, even covered in mud. I didn’t know I was this photogenic…haha.

Can you imagine that some only see food when they look at me? BUT, I am so much more than just food on someone’s plate.

Let me tell you my story. I was raised on a local farm as a 4h/show pig. My humans were very good to me, and I got to be with all the other pigs too. I always wondered though where the other piggies went and why they never came back.

Now, my humans thought I was a very special boy, because I am so docile, I love humans and I was great with my piggy friends.They even spoiled me once in a while with a soda pop. But, I grew bigger and bigger, and soon I was too big to be shown. Usually, pigs like me go to these shows, win ribbons and prices and then go to slaughter. However, my humans didn’t want me to die and reached out to GLR. This was my second chance to live and I live life on my terms now.

Here at GLR, I am known to be the big pig pack leader and piglet supporter. You know, I have a thing for small piggies. It revives my daddy instincts and I like to take them under my wings. You should have seen the look on our founder’s face when I charged her because Jade didn’t like the leash and started squealing….haha.

My BFF is Petunia, one of the other big gals that came to GLR as a little piggy. We like to do piggy things together like taking a dip in the wallow, stealing each others food and taking naps. I am addicted to rock chewing, they are my candy substitute and I love belly rubs so much. 

I can get a little jealous when attention shifts away from me and I am also a fierce protector of my piggy friends.

So, as you can see I am not much different from you or any of my animal friends and all I want is to live. Will you keep me off your plate, please?
